I edit primarily with an interest in Irish political history, political geography and related topics. I aim to provide the legal or original source basis for changes and developments where available, giving information as accurately and precisely as possible at the current time, although to remain accessible to the general reader, details can be confined to footnotes. Wikipedia is a project that should be open to changes; it will hopefully be around for much longer than it has been online to date, so there should not be a status quo bias.

Reference guidelines:

  • References/footnotes should generally read as they would in printed material, and make sense even if the reader does not click through on them. first and last are relevant only for natural persons. Otherwise, use publisher. As stated on template:cite web, website should refer to the name of the website, not its domain, e.g. website=Oireachtas, not website=www.oireachtas.ie.
  • I've added parameters to the template:cite ISB (or template:cite Irish legislation) citation template for use in references to legislative provisions. These provide a standard and are in a similar style to that used in statutes themselves. In general, full citation of acts or SIs can be confined to footnotes, with a description of its effects in the main body.

Occasionally I've been deep into working on a project I've set myself and have forgotten a particular policy or guideline. I don't at all mind a gentle comment on my talk page or ping on the relevant page.
