La temporada 1997–98 de la WHL fue la 32ª temporada de la Western Hockey League (WHL). Dieciocho equipos completaron una temporada de 72 juegos. Los Portland Winter Hawks ganaron la Copa del Presidente antes de ganar la Copa Conmemorativa de 1998 .
